Wisteria  Walkways

I always wanted to paint another version of the plein air painting I did a few years ago in Sonoma.  The interplay of light and shadow, heat and shade and the wisteria blue hues.
Wisteria Walkway  with Yellow Urn
Oil on canvas 24x18"  $750.
Wisteria Walkway with Yellow Urn is a larger studio work inspired by Wisteria Walkway, a plein air painting I did in Sonoma in 2011. I so love the purples and cornflower blues of wisteria, the short and early spring blooming, and how light and shadow dance in a covered arbor walkway.   Painted in New Zealand, with lots of thick oil.

This  little plein air painting is my inspiration for the studio work above. I like its very loose paint application, and menage of greens that go warm with orange.  It still catches the essence of that day in late spring when the sun is out and it makes the shade all the more inviting. -May have to keep it!--
