SEASCAPES of NEW ZEALAND
There's nothing like the power of waves, the vast horizon, the smell of salty mist, and the solitude at the coast to make for a perfect day of plein air painting. Brought my lunch! I hope the winds don't grab my painting off my easel and toss it into the sand!! (I weigh down the easel with a jug of water hung from the cross bar, and bungy tie my canvas to it.)

Painted this on a particularly calm day at Kerikeri Cruise Club. Its one of my favorites. I loved watching these yachts slowly turn and face me as the tide came in. |

Even in busy. Touristy Paihia this beach is often deserted with the ferry to Russell coming and going every 1/2 hour.
