We took a trip around the North Island and loved this gorge near Bulls. Great shapes of the gorge with rolling hills, the interplay of light on the water and canyon walls. I painted while my husband played a round of golf on this site. |

Fog Blankets the Field (2021)

I stopped along the road between Kawakawa and Whangarei to catch the fog rollng over the ridge and into the field as the morning sun tried to break through the marine layer. Nature has so much magic!

I saw a photo taken by my friend, Susan Rea and based this painting on it. My palete always includes cobalt, cerelean and ultramarine blues and cadium orange for watery abstracts which I used here. I love capturing the layers of a landscape and reflected sunlight on water.
