Wire Masks
Twisted Faces formed by Twisting Wire
Twisting wire to create these line 'drawings' of people is cartoon art for me! Instead of spending more than 40 hours for a painting or spirit vessel, I can make a face in a few hours. I have found a whole new application for the contour drawing classes I took years ago in bending the line to create volume and expression out of copper or steel wire. The shadows try to fill their heads, but I don't think they add much substance or any brains! Maybe your imagination can!
About 12 inches high, these Twisted Characters look great hanging in small contemplative spaces, like the loo! I notice myself putting all sorts of ideas into their empty, twisted heads! |
